    I've read several books on mindfulness meditation, and I must admit Shamash Alidina's books are my favorite. There are many other great ones out there, but I really enjoy his style (and his voice is fairly soothing for the audio components). I was searching for Mindfulness for Dummies in iBook form (I've recently converted from Kindle for all of my e-books), but sadly I couldn't find it but found this gem, also by the same author, Shamash Alidina. This book is fantastic! I am a very slow reader (another reason to practice mindfulness) and the full book takes me much longer to get through, but I've already flown through this one in a couple of hours. For $4, you can't go wrong. Your coffee this week, perhaps just today's, was likely more expensive. I don't even recall the Metta meditations in the full book but I am very excited to try them out because I feel more self-compassion is a noble goal. He also includes a section of the "breathing space" which is short, 2-3 minute meditations during a normal day. When I meditate regularly I usually end up with wild, lucid dreams and after a few weeks, I typically feel more at ease with the world, and my resolution for 2013 is to meditate regularly because the benefits are endless for your life. This book is enjoyable to read and provides practical information to get you going with mindfulness meditation. It really does live up to the title, "in a day."
